Potential students must enroll and purchase their books
through Alpha Bible College and Seminary, Mt. Sterling,
Campus. Forms and payment must be received and then the
books, information, and classroom materials will be sent to
the student. At the end of each chapter the student will
find questions. After completion of the questions following
each chapter, the student will email their answers to our
college director,
Katy Overholser. She will contact the student via email
about any areas that need to be addressed, and when
approved, they may go on to the next chapter. At the
end of the course, the student will be required to send a
written report (minimum of 300 words) indicating that the
student has a grasp of the content in that specific

You must order your text books through the church bookstore.

Times
Each of the
classes will last for 55 minutes with a
5 minute break between each class.
Orientation
On Campus Class Information
There will be 6 classes held in each course. Attendance at all classes is required. In addition, outside study and homework is a requirement for successful completion each course.
Upon completion of each quarter, the student will receive a certificate of completion for classes completed and credit will be placed on a permanent transcript at ABC&S. Students who successfully complete all courses offered for 3 quarters will earn an Associate of Bible Studies accredited diploma.
Special Pastor's Class
This is a special course designed for ministers and leaders. Topics include Counseling, How to Preach and Teach, How to Prepare Sermons, How to Study the Bible, The Call of God.
The format for this class is discussion among the participants with the pastor for the purpose of developing skills, answering questions, and development of relationships among the leaders and ministers. Bible college credit is awarded.
Student Costs
PAYMENT
There are several payment options for ABCS students. Please review the Financial Worksheet included in your packet.
REGISTRATION
A $35.00 non refundable registration fee is due at the time of application. No application will be accepted without the registration fee.
TEXTBOOKS
Each student is responsible for purchasing their textbooks for each course at $13.00 each. Spouses may share textbooks.
TUITION
The tuition cost is $5/per class x 12 weeks=$60.00
ASSISTANCE
Scholarships are available to those who are in financial need. Each case will be reviewed on an individual basis.
All students need a Bible. We strongly recommend that you have a good Concordance and Bible dictionary.
Class Instructors
Instructors may be added to the roster at the discretion of the school administration.
Course Descriptions
First Quarter
Biblical Faith
This course presents foundational Bible doctrines in a
popular, easy-to-understand format. Covered in the course
are creation and the fall of man, faith and regeneration,
justification and adoption, prayer and worship, angels,
satan, resurrection and judgment, and the Church.
Biblical Ethics
For Christians, ethics must be rooted in the absolutes
of God's Word. This course examines critical questions such
as abortion, euthanasia, bioethics, human sexuality,
politics, war, capital punishment, race, the arts, and the
environment, from a biblical viewpoint.
Church History
Designed as a basic introduction to the subject, this
course covers the major periods of church history: Ancient
Church, Medieval Church, Reformation Church, and Modern
Church. It gives Christians an overview of their spiritual
heritage.
Evidence and Truth
Evidence and Truth: Aside from personal faith in God, is there any evidence to substantiate the claims of Christianity? An introduction to the study of apologetics, this course will take you step-by-step through the well-documented evidence. Whether a skeptic or a believer, it will help you reach a verdict.

Second Quarter
Effectively Leading
Explore the wide variety of areas with which volunteer and
professional church leaders must contend today. This course
explains the difference between leaders who are effective
and those who are efficient and what this means to the local
church.
Understanding People
This course helps the Bible teacher enhance ministry skills
to work with people more effectively. To truly understand
people, we must combine the rigorous formal study of
developmental issues with our own observations and thorough
study of Scripture.
Teaching Techniques
This course focuses on the philosophical basis of
methodology, insights from current research, an overview of
classroom usage, and principles of selection for specific
purposes and audiences.
Exploring the Old
Testament
This course provides a sweeping overview of God's working
from creation through the books of poetry and prophecy.
Topics include the patriarchs, Israel's trek to the Promised
Land, David's reign, Solomon's kingdom, the kingdom of
Judah, and the exile and the return from captivity. With a
chronological sequence of events, historic and contextual
information is readily grasped.

Third Quarter
Basics of the Bible
This course presents the inspiration and authorship of the
Bible, how it was preserved, why we believe it, how we deal
with its problems and critics, the role of archeology, and
ways to study the Bible more effectively.
Church Educational
Ministries
This course provides a panorama of educational
ministries in the local church: Sunday School, home Bible
studies, summer ministries, retreats and camps, adult
education, youth and club programs, children's church, and
missions. It presents each program's uniqueness, strengths,
structure, and resources.
Evangelism
This course covers the biblical foundations of
evangelism, conversion and regeneration, how to lead a
person to a decision for Christ, age-specific techniques,
team efforts, visitation, discipling new believers, and the
importance of prayer in the entire process of evangelism.
Exploring the New
Testament
This course brings unity and chronological sequence to
New Testament study by weaving the contents of the books
around a central theme---the person of Christ. Textbook
divisions are the synoptic Gospels, the Gospel of John, the
Book of Acts, the Pauline Epistles, in chronological order,
the General Epistles, and the book of Revelation.
